Toilet Training
If your child is not potty trained, you may like us to help.
With your agreement and support, our professional staff can begin potty
training in Blossom Room. The children often learn quite quickly as
they learn by example from others.
Minimum Attendance
Children under the age of two must attend for a minimum of two full
days and children aged 2-3 must attend for a minimum of 1 full day;
half days are not available for under threes. Children over the age
of three must attend for a minimum of two half days. We have found that
this is necessary as children who attend for less than two full days
(under 2) take much longer to settle in as it is a long time between
nursery visits and they do not get to know the staff. By attending 2
days or more they become familiar and happy with their Key Person and
the other members of their room's team and enjoy their time at nursery.
We do not offer half days to under 3's as the children in these rooms
sleep after lunch and the departure and arrival of children after lunch
can effect their routines.
Personal Hygiene & Well
Being
We consider hygiene to be very important. Children are encouraged to
always wash their hands after using the toilet, before meals and throughout
the day following activities. Clean flannels are supplied daily and
are put aside for washing following a single use. The children are also
encouraged to brush their teeth after lunch. You will be asked to supply
a toothbrush and toothpaste for your child's use. All toothbrushes and
mugs are sterilised regularly in Milton.
Rest periods are important for all young children's
development. Every child has their own sleep mat situated in the quiet
area, where they can rest or sleep.
Healthy and Delicious Meals
All meals are freshly prepared
on site in our kitchen. To provide a nutritionally balance and varied
diet, our cook has created a mouth watering 4-week menu (posted daily).
These menus are appraised regularly and changed according to the season
of the year. Special dietary requirements will be catered for and
meals will be adapted for babies and younger children. Wherever possible,
children are encouraged to serve themselves, learn good table manners
and interact with others at meal times.
(Full day care is inclusive of all meals: breakfast,
snack, lunch and tea; milk formula is not included.) We were awarded
with the coveted ‘Heartbeat Award' in 2004 for our healthy and nutritional
menus and we have achieved certification for Module 4 (Meals & Snacks)
of the Kent Kitemark Quality Assurance Scheme.
Settling
In - Free Settling in Sessions
Parents are encouraged to visit Dimples and stay with
their child for several sessions to help them settle into the nursery.
You child's Key Person will help to settle your child and you into
nursery. Some children settle more quickly than others do and every
child (and parent) is treated as an individual. If after leaving your
child, you ever feel concerned, you are welcome to telephone us for
a progress report.
Special
Needs
All children are welcome at Dimples. If your child has a particular
special need, please let us know so that we can work together for
the benefit of your child.
