Early Education Grant

We are registered with the Department of Education and we offer the free 12½ hour of education per week. Children are eligible the term after they have attained their third birthday. These free sessions will reduce the fees for your child but the amount is dependant on how many days your child attends Dimples and how many sessions you claim for. There is always an additional fee to pay as we provide meals and are open for longer than the12½ hours. Please ask for more details.

The Kent Qualitymark
The whole nursery (team, parents and children) are working towards the Kent Qualitymark Quality Assurance Scheme. This scheme is run by Kent County Council and is made up of 5 modules. We are mentored and assessed to ensure that the evidence that we provided was accurate. Once all 5 modules were certificated we received the full Qualitymark Accreditation in November 2007.

Uniform
All our staff wear a uniform depicting the Dimples logo which allows for quick identification. These polo shirts and sweatshirts are also available in smaller sizes to fit our babies - 5 yr olds. The uniform is not compulsory in the younger rooms but is worn by all chidren in our 2 pre-school rooms. Items are available from the office should you wish to purchase them for your child.

Good Communication
We believe in working very closely with our parents for the benefit of the children and to enable you to continue your career with the least possible worry. We respect that parents are their child's first educators. We feel that working together with parents to support their child's development and learning can have an effect upon all they achieve. It is, therefore, very important that good communication is in place between our staff and parents.

Parents are encouraged to discuss any aspects of their child's development and well being with their child's room staff or management and we have a suggestion box available should you wish to write any comments or suggestions.

‘'Child Profile' reports are regularly written detailing your child's progress. They are available for parents to read and to add to throughout the year. Parents of children in Buttercup to Sunflower will also be invited to meet with their child's Key person on our parents' evenings twice a year. (We do not hold parents evenings for parents of children in Bluebell Room as there is a lot of daily feedback given).

Illness
To minimise the spread of infection, we are unable to admit any child who appears to be suffering from any infectious illness. Should a child become ill whilst at the nursery, contact will be made immediately with the parent by phone and the child may require collection. More details can be found in the policies folder located in the front lobby.

Child Protection
As a provider of full day care we are responsible for the well being of the children attending our nursery and we are governed by the Children's act 1989.

Encouraging Good Behaviour
Positive behaviour is encouraged by providing consistent rules and limits, through praise and example. If persistent problems occur, the child's key worker will discuss the problem with the parent, room supervisor or manager to find an acceptable solution.

Equal Opportunities
We actively promote equal opportunities in our nursery. We take great care to treat each individual as people in their own right regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, faith or disability. Through our careful selection of professional staff and quality training, the children are surrounded by positive role models. Play equipment and books are specially selected to promote positive images of men, women, boys and girls. Dimples is a fully inclusive provision and everyone is welcome.

Complaints and Suggestions
At Dimples we strive to ensure that the nursery consistently promotes high standards of quality childcare. We welcome any suggestions and comments that parents may wish to contribute.

And Finally
Although this website aims to give you a good picture of Dimples, it cannot replace the benefits of a visit to the nursery. ‘Once you've been, you'll be sure to like what you've seen.'
