Bluebell, Buttercup and Blossom Rooms
Our baby rooms cater for children from 3 months to 2 years and each room is equipped with toys and resources that meet the needs of the children within the room.

Our babies use the outdoor space daily and Buttercup and Blossom have their own gardens with all weather play surfaces and large shade sails.

The staff ratio for these three rooms is a minimum of one member of staff to three children. (Main brand nappies and baby wipes are provided for al children at no extra cost).

Daisy and Daffodil Rooms
These two spacious and colourful rooms cater for children from 2-3 years. There are specifically designed areas that include the home corner, art and craft, sand and water, quiet area and many more. This enables our staff to encourage children to learn through play and socially interact with their peers. With one adult for every four children we are able to monitor each child individually and encourage them to move forward and develop their self-esteem, confidence and imagination.

Younger
Room
Information
Birth to Three Matters
In our youngest rooms, the teams follow the framework for the Birth to Three Matters. This framework for planning activities ensures that all areas of the children's development are planned for through a variety of fun and stimulating ‘play' activities, thus enabling all children to progress to their full potential. Each Key Person observes their own Key Children and plans activities specifically for their needs and interests. Your child's development is recorded in their own individual Profile Book and we encourage parents to participate in this process.

Key Person
Approach
At Dimples we operate a Key Person approach throughout the whole of the nursery, whereby every child is assigned a Key Person. (Due to shifts, holidays and other absences the other team members in your child's room will be to hand if your child's Key Person is not available). This team member will be there for you and your child from the very first settling in session (3 or 4 can be booked free of charge the week before your child starts at Dimples) until their move to the next room where you will meet your next Key Person. They will plan, observe, feed, comfort and care for your child whenever possible to ensure continuity of care and to allow your child to become familiar with their special Key Person. The Key Person is also there as the first point of contact for you as a parent.

Poppy & Sunflower Rooms
When our children reach 3 years, they move ‘over' to the pre-school building. Through planned, daily activities within our specially designed rooms, the children gain the confidence and skills necessary for their move to school. These activities form part of the ‘Foundation Stage' and consist of the early learning goals (changing soom to the Early Years Foundation Stage).

These are:
Personal, social and emotional development
Communication, language and literacy
Mathematical development
Knowledge and understanding of the world
Physical development
Creative development

Preschool
Room
Information

We begin to prepare the children for the transition from nursery to school by introducing specific activities 2-4 terms before they are due to leave. We operate a 'Home/Nursery Book Scheme' and encourage them to change into a P.E. kit for physical activity times.

The children from our two preschool rooms have a vegetable patch that they use for growing their own fruit and vegetables throughout the year. The children help plant, care for, pick and eat the produce. These two rooms follow the ‘Jolly Phonic' scheme that introduces children to the alphabet, emergent reading and writing. This scheme is increasingly used in schools and is a good basis for children to begin their learning.

Although Ofsted state that there should be a minimum of one adult to every eight children in these rooms, we always plan to work with a ratio of 1:6 as this gives the children and staff a richer learning environment.
